We anticipate that the congregational AGM will take place next month, and we will provide an update then on the current total in the New Church Fund.

Generation 19: Invitation cards were distributed last Sunday for the 1st and the 8th of September.   If you would like more – they should be available at the door. We also encourage you during that period to Invite a Friend to your Home, as offering hospitality is a great way to show Christian love and care to others.   We have arranged a guest speaker, so that you can Invite a Friend to Testimony.   This is expected to be in the Scout Hut in Balintore on Friday 6th September.

Women for Mission: The September meeting of the WFM is on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:30pm in the church hall. The speaker will be Hannah Macaskill from Inverness, and prior to her talk, there will be a selection of desserts provided.  If anyone would like to contribute a dessert, please write your name on the list at the door.

Sutherland Convention: The speaker at this year’s convention is Rev Professor Bob Akroyd. The Convention takes place from 6th – 8th September with all the meetings in Dornoch Academy Hall. The Friday and Saturday meetings are at 7:30pm and Sunday at 8pm.   More details on the poster in the hall.

Tain Communion: The next communion in Tain will be on 22nd September. Our guest preacher over that weekend will be Rev. Alasdair MacLeod of Smithton Free Church.   If anyone connected with the congregation is considering professing their faith in Jesus and taking communion for the first time, they should speak to the minister or one of the elders before the communion weekend.

Treasurer: Our treasurer Donald Beaton has served the congregation well for over a decade and has intimated that he wishes to relinquish that responsibility now.   We are looking for a new treasurer.   If you would be willing to consider serving the Lord in that capacity, or if you would like to know more about what would be involved, please speak to one of the ministers in the first instance.

Cheques:   All cheques must now be made payable to – Tain and Fearn Free Church of Scotland.   Please do not put “Building Fund” on the cheque as the bank has changed its rules and will now return it.   If you wish a cheque to go towards the Building Fund – please make that clear on the envelope.

Sermon Recordings:  If anybody wishes a copy of any sermon as an MP3 sent  via e-mail – please e-mail your request to Tom Walker on tom@tain.co.uk stating which sermon you would like. CDs can be ordered using the forms in the vestibule.

Alternatively you can listen to the morning sermons on YouTube  These are usually added on Sunday afternoons.  Some evening sermons are now being added.

Church Finances:  The Deacons Court would like to encourage those who contribute to the church to consider doing so by Standing Order. Anyone who sets up a new Standing Order should also let the Assistant Treasurer, Donella Ferrier know that they have done so. Donella can be contacted by email on donellaferrier@talktalk.net or by phone on 01862 810 457.

Free-Will Envelopes: There are sets of envelopes available for those who would like to use this method to donate to the church.   If anyone else wishes a set, please speak to one of the ministers.

Meanwhile, the Deacons Court would also urge anyone who pays tax to consider signing a Gift Aid form. This allows the church to get an additional 25% from the government, on any donations you make.
