Community Service Tea Rota: The new rota will be on display in the church hall. There are now joint teams from the two churches. When a team is on duty it is noted which church is responsible for taking the tea/milk etc. The baking/bought treats required by the team is 4×2 dozen pieces (giving approximately 100 pieces). The rota contains phone numbers so that team members can liaise with each other if needed. For any enquiries, please contact Emma MacKenzie on 832 245. On duty tonight is the new Blue Team – made up of Flora MacKenzie, Kate MacKenzie, Linda Vass and Catherine Maclean along with Beth Skinner and Norma Downie from the UF. The UF will provide the tea and milk.
Cheques: All cheques must now be made payable to – Tain and Fearn Free Church of Scotland. Please do not put “Building Fund” on the cheque as the bank has changed its rules and will now return it. If you wish a cheque to go towards the Building Fund – please make that clear on the envelope.
Generation 19: As part of our outreach efforts during the first ten days of September, we will have an Invite a Friend to Church Day on the morning of the 1st and the 8th of September. Invitation cards will be available from next Sunday. Please continue to pray about who you will invite. We would also encourage you during that period to Invite a Friend to your Home, as offering hospitality is a great way to show Christian love and care to others. We are making arrangement for a guest speaker one evening, so that you can Invite a Friend to Testimony. It is hoped this can take place in Balintore, with the location and date yet to be confirmed. We encourage you to make this period a matter of prayer and we aim to have specific prayer events during this period also.
Prayer Meeting: The Wednesday night meeting is open to anyone who wishes to come along. It is a great place to learn about God, the Bible and how to be a Christian. The typical format is; three singings, a 20-minute address, followed by 2 or 3 men being asked to lead us all in prayer. We would love to see you there; and don’t worry, you will not be asked to pray publicly.
Seaboard Gala Praise: During the Seaboard Gala next Saturday, the United Free Church will have a bookstall with books from CFP and some articles from the Christian Bookshop. There will also be a Gospel Singalong from 1:15 – 1:30 pm at the trailer. It would great if people could help with the singing of some well-known hymns and a psalm. Song sheets will be made available. The singalong is being advertised as being done by The Seaboard Churches.
Treasurer: Our treasurer Donald Beaton has served the congregation well for over a decade and has intimated that he wishes to relinquish that responsibility now. We are looking for a new treasurer. If you would be willing to consider serving the Lord in that capacity, or if you would like to know more about what would be involved, please speak to one of the ministers in the first instance.
Mobile Phones: We are still collecting old mobile phones to raise funds. They should be dropped off in the box at church or given directly to Samuel Robertson.
Sermon Recordings: If anybody wishes a copy of any sermon as an MP3 sent via e-mail – please e-mail your request to Tom Walker on email@example.com stating which sermon you would like. CDs can be ordered using the forms in the vestibule.
Alternatively you can listen to the morning sermons on YouTube These are usually added on Sunday afternoons. Some evening sermons are now being added.
Church Finances: The Deacons Court would like to encourage those who contribute to the church to consider doing so by Standing Order. Anyone who sets up a new Standing Order should also let the Assistant Treasurer, Donella Ferrier know that they have done so. Donella can be contacted by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 01862 810 457.
Free-Will Envelopes: There are sets of envelopes available for those who would like to use this method to donate to the church. If anyone else wishes a set, please speak to one of the ministers.
Meanwhile, the Deacons Court would also urge anyone who pays tax to consider signing a Gift Aid form. This allows the church to get an additional 25% from the government, on any donations you make.
